Megan Brennan

By the age of fifteen I knew I wanted to be a hairdresser. My first job was at a local salon in Cushing Square, Belmont, and I knew I was exactly where I belonged. I worked there through high school shampooing, answering the phone, and occasionally mixing a color or blow-drying a client. I loved everything about working in a salon, especially seeing clients walking out, looking and feeling great. I enrolled in hair school as soon as I graduated from high school and continued working at the salon on evenings and Saturdays. In 1999, a stylist I worked with opened Essentials and I followed her there without a second thought. It was so exciting to be involved in opening a new salon and I was hooked! A few years later, in the summer of 2008, she approached me to purchase Essentials. Again, without a second thought, I jumped at the chance.  I had known for years I wanted my own salon. I bought Essentials in September of 2008 and immediately began planning when I would move back to Cushing Square and own the salon of my dreams. Finally, in October of 2011, my vision came to fruition. I moved Essentials back to Cushing Square.
